Landing page or corporate website: what a business should choose

"We just need a landing page" is a sentence worth answering with one question: how many different things do you sell? If one, a landing page really is the best choice. If four, and each needs its own explanation, a single page will get in the way of sales rather than help them.

The short answer

Criterion Landing page Corporate website
What it sells one service or product the whole range
Traffic source ads, newsletters search, ads, referrals
Cost €300–500 €500–1,000
Timeline 14–30 days 20–45 days
Growth limited by format blog, cases, new sections
Best fit testing demand, one campaign a company with several services

When a landing page is enough

You are testing demand

A new service where nobody knows yet whether people will buy. A landing page plus ads answers that question in two weeks for modest money — faster and cheaper than a full website.

You have one offer and one audience

A course, an event, a specific product. All attention leads to one action, and nothing distracts.

Traffic comes from advertising

Someone clicked an ad with a specific promise — the page has to deliver exactly that promise. Extra sections only lower conversion here.

You need it fast

Two or three weeks against six — sometimes that is the deciding argument, especially before a season.

When a landing page starts to hurt

You have more than one service

Trying to fit four directions onto one page ends with none of them explained properly. The visitor does not find their case and leaves.

You want traffic from search

One page can rank for one or two queries. A business with several services needs a separate page per intent — otherwise you compete with yourself.

You need trust

Cases, reviews, an about page, contacts with a real address — this is what a client checks before a deal worth several thousand euros. A landing page has no room for it.

A blog is planned

Content marketing needs structure: categories, articles, internal links. A landing page does not assume that architecture.

A practical rule: if you cannot describe your offer in one sentence, one page will not be enough.

Cost and timeline

Landing page — €300–500 and 14–30 days. Corporate website — €500–1,000 and 20–45 days. The price gap is smaller than it looks: the base work (analysis, design system, markup, CMS) is the same, only the number of pages grows. A detailed quote breakdown is in the article on website cost in Moldova.

Can you start with a landing page and grow into a website

You can, if it is planned for. In practice there are two scenarios:

  • **The landing page is designed as the first page of a future website.** The design system, markup and CMS are built with headroom, and sections are added later. Expansion is inexpensive.
  • **The landing page was built as a one-off.** Expanding means building again: structure, navigation and the technical base were never meant to grow.

The price difference at the start is 10–15%. The difference a year later is the cost of a whole project.

What businesses in Moldova usually pick

From our practice: business services — legal, accounting, IT — almost always go corporate, because expertise and search traffic matter there. One-off products, events and testing new directions go to a landing page.

Stores are a separate case. With more than ten products you do not need a website but an online store with a catalogue and cart.

An example from Synergy practice

Client: a children IT academy with several study programmes for different ages.

Task: a landing page was discussed at first, but the client has six directions, branches in two cities and different age groups.

What we did: a corporate website with pages for programmes, branches and trial-lesson sign-up. Each programme got its own page and its own search query.

Result: parents land directly on the right programme instead of picking their way through a general description.

Frequently asked questions

Is a landing page worse for SEO?

Not worse, narrower: one page competes for one intent. For "English courses for 7-year-olds in Chișinău" a landing page fits. For ten such queries you need ten pages.

Can a landing page have separate sections for different services?

Technically yes, but each service gets less attention, and the search engine sees one page with a blurred topic. With more than three services you are already talking about a corporate website.

How many sections should a landing page have?

As many as it takes to answer the objections. Usually 6–9: problem, solution, how it works, proof, price, reviews, form. Fewer than five usually leaves something unsaid.

Which is cheaper to maintain?

A landing page, simply because it is smaller. But if the business grows, maintaining it plus repeated rebuilds for new tasks costs more than a proper website with a CMS.

Conclusion

The choice between a landing page and a website is not a budget decision but a task decision. One offer and advertising — a landing page. Several directions, search traffic and growth plans — a corporate website.
